Henrik's Ten Years at TRIMIT

From Vet Clinics to ERP: Henrik's Ten Years at TRIMIT

Ten years ago, Henrik joined TRIMIT. But his path into ERP was anything but conventional.

Before software development became his profession, Henrik worked as a large-animal veterinarian, treating cows and horses. At the same time, computers and programming had been a long-standing interest.

“I’ve always been interested in computers. I started with a Commodore 64 and had been working with programming on and off for years. So when I got the opportunity to move into IT, it matched an interest I already had.”

His first role in IT combined both worlds: veterinary knowledge and software. He was hired as a consultant but soon moved into development when his programming skills became apparent.

“I ended up helping design the solutions instead of showing people how to use them.”

That move set the direction for the rest of his career. Henrik stayed in the ERP industry for many years before joining TRIMIT in 2016.

A Familiar Name in the Industry

Henrik already knew TRIMIT before applying.

“I knew TRIMIT because it had a very good reputation in the industry. The company was known for some of the technological innovations it had introduced, so it was definitely a name I knew.”

TRIMIT’s location in Viborg was another advantage. After years of commuting to Aarhus – a journey that had grown to around 75 minutes each way – Henrik decided to make the move.

Ten years later, he is still here.

Finding the Right Role at TRIMIT

Henrik’s decade at TRIMIT has included different roles and even a period working with TRIMIT Norway. Today, he is part of TRIMIT Solutions, where he works as an ISV developer.

For Henrik, that type of work is an important part of why the job still suits him – just as the flexibility surrounding his role:

“I really enjoy developing the solution itself rather than working primarily with customer-specific customizations. And I have the working day I want. I can work from home, or I can go into the office. Having that degree of flexibility is extremely important to me,” Henrik says.

A Workplace That Is Hard to Match

After ten years, Henrik knows what he values in a workplace: interesting tasks, flexibility, good colleagues and room to develop.

Having worked elsewhere before TRIMIT also means Henrik has a point of comparison when it comes to employee benefits and working conditions.

“I think many people probably don’t realize how many benefits we actually have at TRIMIT. I’ve worked at other companies, and compared to what I’ve experienced elsewhere, what we have here is quite exceptional.”

Henrik also highlights the freedom to develop professionally within the organization:

“If there’s something you want, you can usually just talk to your manager about it. I’ve never really felt that there were barriers standing in the way.”

Last, but absolutely not least, the colleagues are another important reason why Henrik is still with TRIMIT:

“I have some really great colleagues. We’re a very good team, and we complement each other well.”

Electronics, Music and Life Outside TRIMIT

When asked about his work-life balance and what keeps him busy outside TRIMIT, Henrik is quick to joke:

“There isn’t really anything besides TRIMIT – it takes up my whole life,” he laughs. “My work-life balance definitely tips to one side.”

Fortunately, he does find time for other things. Outside work, Henrik has returned to an interest he first developed as a teenager: electronics.

“I’ve heard that when men turn 50, they either have to buy a motorcycle or find another expensive hobby,” he laughs. “So I took up electronics again.”

Today, he builds his own amplifiers and enjoys an old-school stereo setup with vinyl records and cassette tapes. His music taste leans towards electronic music, with Depeche Mode among his favorites.

Henrik also enjoys life at home with his wife, Mette, and their two children, as well as trips to Norway, where the family often spends time in the mountains.

Thank you for your contribution and happy anniversary, Henrik!
